什麼叫智慧? What is Intelligence ?

Two men were digging a ditch on a very hot day. One said to theother, "Why are we down in this hole digging a ditch when our boss isstanding up there in the shade of a tree?" "I don』t know," respondedthe other. "I』ll ask him."

　　    兩個男人在烈日底下辛苦地挖溝. 其中一個人就問另外一個: 「為什麼我們在這裡辛辛苦苦地勞動而老闆卻在樹蔭底下乘涼呢?」
　　
　　    「不知道,」另外那個男人說, 「我去問問他.」
　　
0 u- W" k6 ~6 @8 ?% q- V3 u" m　　　　So he climbed out of the hole and went to his boss. "Why are wedigging in the hot sun and you』re standing in the shade?""Intelligence," the boss said. "What do you mean, 『intelligence』?"

　　　　The boss said, "Well, I』ll show you. I』ll put my hand on this treeand I want you to hit it with your fist as hard as you can." The ditchdigger took a mighty swing and tried to hit the boss』 hand. The bossremoved his hand and the ditch digger hit the tree. The boss said,"That』s intelligence!"

　　　　老闆開口了: 「我來做給你看吧. 我把手貼到這顆樹上, 然後你狠狠地打我的手.」

% h6 q5 i7 g% m- S6 U- M　　    於是那個工人卯足了力氣一拳打了過去, 結果老闆縮回了手, 工人一拳砸在了樹上.

$ A" v6 q. ^. t$ v7 K' L　　    老闆得意地說: 「瞧, 這就是智慧.」

　　　　The ditch digger went back to his hole. His friend asked, "What didhe say?" "He said we are down here because of intelligence." "What』sintelligence?" said the friend. The ditch digger put his hand on hisface and said, "Take your shovel and hit my hand."
　　
. E' g( c" \) U* J- M( R　　    工人抱著受傷的手垂頭喪氣地走回壕溝, 他的同伴就問了: 「老闆說什麼?」
　　
　　「他說我們是因為智慧的原因所以在這裡挖溝」

　　於是那個工人很興奮地把手放到自己臉上, 說: 「拿起你的鏟子, 狠狠打我的手!」
