Writing good ads is one of the most important parts of yourcampaign. It can mean the difference between success and failure. Line 3: Reassuring the customer, showing authority, and bonus selling points if space.

As always, its easiest to see with an example. Let』s use the exampleof a shoe offer like shoebuy or zappos. This ad would be for a searchhitting the keyword 「running shoes「. Here is a sample ad:/ U( q; _& M3 q( q; E4 o. T3 s

Ads may look simple but there is a lot going on here. So let』s break it down.
/ I' h- O2 U, X# S. g5 Q; N0 [4 r1. The search term is repeated in 2 differentplaces on the ad, reinforcing the search, increasing quality score, andbolding that text for increased CTR.! m" w2 U: z1 {3 D& q
2. Saving money. Everyone wants to save money, soin 2 places on the ad we have show they will save money. On line 1, theword 「discount」 and on line 2 the phrase 「on sale」.
4 Y4 u7 H1 o+ D) s3. Urgency. The word 「now」 on line 2 evokes a sense of urgency.
/ x3 M0 N% t! a+ a8 A/ f3 [4. Numbers and percentages. People scanning a pagealways stop on numbers. On line 3 we use 「100%」 which draws the eyes tothe ad and increases CTR.7 [9 B7 d' `1 U' O/ B9 x
5. Reassurance and final selling points. On line 3we provide buyer reassurance with the guarantee and the bonus pointabout free shipping.5 E9 d: Y3 Q; g; |" ] V f+ r
6. The word free. If there is anything about theoffer that is free, its a good thing to put in the ad. 「Free」 jumps outat people.

8. Display URL. This is a simple display URL buteffective because it further reinforces the search term and lets theperson know the domain is related to what they want. Not overlyhyphenated or too long. Also I capitalize each word in the domain ifits multiple words." p% l! b& X/ @* w% [# L8 ?# `
Even though this ad doesn』t have a call to action like 「click nowfor coupon」 it should still lead to a good CTR. Once the searcher getsto your landing page, you can then close the deal with a clear call toaction. I like more descriptive and informative ads, which usually workwell. In addition you get more serious clicks which keeps expenses downand leads to overall better conversion rates. At any rate this is justone of the techniques that usually works great for me, there are tonsof ways to write ads for different situations.
